Texas Success Initiative Assessment

Reese Education Center offers the TSI Assessment (Texas Success Initiative Assessment) to satisfy requirements set by post-secondary institutions to current Reese students.

Students may be exempt from taking the TSI Assessment by:

  • SAT - Evidenced Based Reading and Writing score of 480 or higher and/or a Math score of 530 or higher (test taken on or after March 5, 2016) Scores are good for five years from date of test. 
  • ACT - a composite score of 23 with a 19 on the math and/or English Sections.  Scores are good for five years from date of test.

 Passing TSI Scores

Math: 350

Reading: 351

Writing: 4 on the Essay with 340 on Writing Placement OR a 5 or higher on the Essay 

The cost is $15 to take all sections or any individual section. Students must bring a picture ID and proof of the Pre-Assessment Activity (Certificate will be emailed to you) with them to be admitted into the testing room. Without both of these items, the student will be denied testing and no refund will be given.

TSI Pre-Assessment Activity

  • Your testing site will be "South Plains College."
  • Print out the certification upon completion and bring it to your scheduled test session.
  • You will be denied admission to the test administration without this certificate and will not receive a refund.
  • Keep this certificate for future TSI test administrations so you do not have to repeat the activity.

Students must have an application on file with SPC to test at one of their locations.

 You have to apply even if you are not taking any Dual Credit classes at South Plains College.
