Frenship High School to Host Spring Blood Drive

If you are a parent or community member you MUST check in at the front desk. The front desk staff will direct you to the Student Center.

If you are considering donating, you need to follow the following steps.

Step 1: Make sure you qualify to donate.

Remember that height, weight, and age restrictions apply when donating blood. Donors must be 16 years of age.

Additionally, 16-year-old donors require a signed consent form. You can find that form here. You must turn in the signed consent form before making your appointment.

Weight and height requirements can be found here.

Step 2: SIGN UP for a scheduled appointment.

FHS students and staff may sign up in Room 200, CT-7, CT-1, or online at www.bloodhero.com. Use the sponsor code: Frenship.

Community members and parents must sign up at www.bloodhero.com. Use the sponsor code: Frenship.

Step 3: PREPARE!

Drink more water than usual! At least 24-48 hours before donation appointment, make sure you stay very hydrated. Half your body weight in ounces of water is recommended each day.

The night before donation and the morning of donation, EAT!

On the morning of your donation appointment, complete this 10-minute questionnaire about your health history. Completing this questionnaire will reduce your wait time! This FAST TRACK PASS must be completed on the MORNING of your appointment only. No other forms will be accepted.

Remember, when completing the FAST TRACK PASS perfection is required. Check the spelling of your name, make sure your birthday is correct and BE HONEST. When finished, screen shot or print the FAST TRACK PASS.

Step 4: Arrive at your scheduled donation time and DONATE!

Some common blood donation questions are listed below:

Q: Can I donate if I had COVID-19?

A: YES! If you have had COVID-19, hospitals will be able to use the antibodies in your blood to help other COVID-19 patients. You MUST wait 28 days since your first symptoms to donate.

Q: Why should I donate?

A: You can be a HERO to someone in your community. Due to COVID-19, having plenty of blood for our community is crucial.

Q: How long will it take?

A: There is a short medical screening process before you begin the actual donation process, but if you complete your FAST TRACK PASS, your time will be greatly reduced. The actual donation time can range from 15-minutes to 1-hour, depending on the type of donation.

Step 5: AFTERCARE is critical!

When your donation is complete, continue to hydrate. It is also good to keep your body temperature down and avoid strenuous exercise or physical activity.
