Frenship ISD Names New Assistant Athletic Director

In this new role as the Assistant Athletic Director, Holt will support the expansion of Frenship’s athletic department and growing number of student athletes as Frenship opens new schools.

“Alcove Trails Middle School opened this year and saw great success with its athletic programs. We’re also preparing to open Frenship Memorial High School in August of 2025 and will offer the same sports available at Frenship High School,” said Frenship ISD Athletic Director Bryan Gerlich. “Coach Holt already has the experience in overseeing multiple athletic programs, and we’re excited to have him and his leadership in this new role at the district-level to ensure our programs remain successful.”

Holt joined the Frenship family back in 2017 and for the past seven years he has served as both the Middle School Athletic Coordinator and the Frenship High School Varsity Football Offensive Coordinator. As the Middle School Athletic Coordinator, Holt’s responsibilities included everything from coordinating with districts across Lubbock for middle school sports schedules to building a culture of excellence on and off the field among Frenship’s middle school athletes.

“I was overjoyed when I learned I was selected for the position,” said Holt. “I am thrilled to collaborate with coaches across all sports and witness the incredible work they do daily. Being a part of our district's growth is truly exciting, and I am eager to contribute to the opening of our second high school, Frenship Memorial High School.”

A Plainview native, Holt played football for West Texas A&M University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Wanting to start a career in coaching, he later earned his teaching certification with a specialization in Special Education.

Holt and his family are proud Frenship Tigers. Danielle Holt, his wife of 25 years, serves as the media specialist at Oak Ridge Elementary and his daughter Caitlyn will graduate from Frenship High School this May.
