Reese Education Students Learn about Career Opportunities in Real Estate

The Reese students had the opportunity to explore the real estate industry during a special presentation led by local real estate agent Amy Greer. Organized by Elyse Evans, the Communities in Schools Coordinator, this informative session aimed to inspire students interested in exploring career opportunities within this dynamic field.

“I constantly hear my students express interest in real estate each year,” said Evans. “I invited Amy Greer to share her insights and experiences, encouraging any student interested in real estate to attend.”

The presentation was optional, but it attracted many eager participants ready to learn more about potential career paths. The session offered students the chance to engage directly with a professional in the field, allowing them to ask questions and gain valuable insights.

“I can help students research careers, but I think it’s crucial for them to hear firsthand accounts from professionals,” said Evans. “They get the opportunity to ask all the questions they want about the field, which helps demystify the industry.”

Evans emphasized the importance of providing students with exposure to different career paths.

“Many of our students have never explored careers, colleges, and trade schools on their own, which can be intimidating,” said Evans. “This in-person presentation can give them the confidence and determination to research, ask questions, and make a plan for their future.”

She also shared that several students who attended previous presentations are now pursuing education in trade schools or colleges, showcasing the impact these sessions can have on students’ future plans.

Greer echoed the significance of introducing students to the real estate industry.

“I think that it’s important to share the opportunities in real estate with students because it is an incredible industry, and there are so many ways to make money,” said Greer. “It’s relatively inexpensive to get into, and kids need options to explore.”

Greer enjoys that her job allows her to have a lot of flexibility.

“My favorite part about my job is the variety of ways you can make money. Whether you want to be a supervisor, be in production, or assist, there are many different avenues to explore. Housing is not going away; people are always going to need a home,” said Greer.

Evans also has plans to bring in professionals from other industries to provide students with a well-rounded perspective on career options. Earlier this semester, a presentation on cosmetology was held, and future sessions will cover fields such as auto mechanics, nursing, welding, and the military.

Through initiatives like these, the Reese Education Center aims to empower students with the knowledge and inspiration needed to pursue their career aspirations confidently.
