Frenship is thrilled to welcome Tim Algate to the Frenship Family. Algate has spent the last 13 years teaching in the Lubbock ISD Monterey feeder-pattern. He began his career as the assistant choir director at Monterey High School, later became the head choir director at Evans Middle School and then returned to Monterey as the head choir director.
Algate knew he wanted to join the Frenship team after a UIL Choir performance five years ago.
“In March 2020, my varsity choir performed at UIL just before Frenship's varsity choir, so the audience was filled with Frenship families. I received many generous emails that evening from these Frenship parents expressing how much they enjoyed the concert Monterey had put on, and I knew then I wanted to serve Frenship families when the opportunity presented itself,” said Algate.
Algate grew up in San Antonio and moved to Lubbock to pursue a degree at Texas Tech University. After graduation he decided to stay in the area for the small-town atmosphere and numerous opportunities.
He is most excited to work alongside the other Frenship choir directors and create a new legacy at Frenship Memorial High School.
“I'm most excited to join the choir vertical team with Michaela Billett at Terra Vista and Morgan Kirby at Heritage. They are outstanding teachers with established programs and a history of success that I look forward to continuing with their students at Memorial High School,” said Algate. “There's also the excitement of being first in a brand-new facility and being present while traditions are established that will last for decades.”
Algate is married to his wife, Mandy, and in their spare time they enjoy traveling and spending time outdoors. Their favorite place to travel is the mountains where they’ve spent most summers in the American West climbing, hiking, rafting, and wandering the wilderness areas.
Frenship ISD is looking forward to having Tim Algate as the Frenship Memorial High School Choir Director. Welcome to the Frenship Family, Tim!
